The Vasundhara Conservation Crusade was a sacred grove and wildlife conservation initiative organized by the Department of Botany at Shri. Yashwantrao Patil Science College, Solankur. The program aimed to raise awareness about the importance of environmental conservation and encourage community participation in conservation efforts.

The program commenced at the Ambabai Devrai in Dawarwadi, where a warm welcome was extended to all participants, faculty members, and esteemed guests. The introductory session was anchored be by Dr. M. S. Sutare. The Introduction of the programme, the sponsors and the resource persons was given by Dr. S. V. Madhale. The resource persons and representatives of both the KVER and Laxmi Foundations were felicitated in recognition of their valuable contributions. Vote of thanks was given by Dr. J. K. Chavan, NAAC coordinator, YPSC, Solankur.

Later, a delightful breakfast and refreshing tea were served to all in attendance.

The subsequent visit took place at the Vakighol Devarai (sacred grove). The esteemed resource persons generously shared their profound knowledge with the eager participants. Prof. V. B. Shimpale, a distinguished taxonomist, imparted valuable insights into the diverse array of plant life, encompassing their intricate taxonomy, remarkable medicinal properties, and crucial role within the delicate balance of the ecosystem. Mr. S. M. Waingankar, a renowned environmentalist, provided the intricate interdependence between plants and animals within the environment, emphasizing their profound significance for the continued existence of humanity.

Following the enriching field visit, the participants were graciously hosted for a lunch at the Ambabai Devrai in Dawarwadi. The concluding session, expertly anchored by Dr. V. M. Lagade, commenced with a valuable feedback session, where participants shared their insightful perspectives and valuable experiences. The program culminated with the distribution of certificates to all the participants, followed by a thoughtful discussion of future plans from Mr. Vinayak Desai of Laxmi Foundation and a heartfelt vote of thanks from Dr. V. M. Lagade to all who contributed to the success of this enriching programme.

1. Increased awareness about the importance of sacred groves and wildlife conservation

2. Fostering a sense of community responsibility towards environmental protection

3. Encouraging collaboration between educational institutions and environmental organizations

4. Providing a platform for sharing knowledge and expertise on conservation practices
