Competition Details:

The Department of Botany organized a PowerPoint Presentations Competition for B. Sc. students as part of the Science Week celebrations. The competition aimed to provide a platform for students to showcase their research, presentation skills, and understanding of botanical concepts. The program was introduced by Dr. S. V. Madhale, who also delivered the vote of thanks. A total of eight participants attended the event. The technical aspects were managed by Dr. S. P. Dorugade from the Department of Botany.

Judging Criteria:

The presentations were evaluated based on the following criteria (with a maximum score of 5 for each):

 * Theme: Relevance and depth of the topic chosen.

 * Presentation: Clarity, organization, and visual appeal of the presentation.

 * Knowledge: Understanding of the subject matter and ability to answer questions.

 * Quality of Answers: Accuracy and depth of responses during the Q&A session.

Results:

The following scores were recorded for each participant:

 * Gayatri Shinde emerged as the winner, demonstrating strong performance across all categories.

 * Madhura Chougale secured the second position.

 * Samiksha Patil secured the third position.

 * The remaining participants showed varying levels of performance, with some excelling in specific areas.

Observations:

 * The majority of participants chose relevant themes for their presentations.

 * The quality of presentations varied, with some students demonstrating better presentation skills than others.

 * There was a noticeable difference in the depth of knowledge among the participants.

 * The quality of answers during the Q&A session also varied, indicating different levels of understanding of the subject matter.

Recommendations:

 * Future competitions could benefit from providing more specific guidelines and criteria for judging.

 * Workshops or training sessions on presentation skills and research methodology could be organized for students.

 * Feedback should be provided to all participants to help them improve their skills.

Conclusion:

The PowerPoint Presentations Competition was a successful event that provided a valuable learning experience for the B.Sc. students. It fostered a spirit of healthy competition and encouraged students to explore and present their knowledge of botany. The Department of Botany should continue to organize such events to promote academic excellence and scientific temperament among students.
