Celebration of International Mangrove Day

On July 26, 2024, Shri. Yashwantrao Patil Science College in Solankur celebrated International Mangrove Day with great enthusiasm. The event aimed to raise awareness about the vital role mangroves play in coastal ecosystems and their significance in maintaining ecological balance.

The event commenced with a warm welcome by Dr. S. V. Madhale, Head of the Department of Botany. Dr. Madhale emphasized the importance of mangroves in protecting coastlines, supporting biodiversity, and mitigating climate change. Dr. N. V. Junghare, Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry delivered an insightful lecture. His talk covered topics such as mangrove species diversity, adaptations, and conservation strategies.  Dr. S. P. Dorugade, Department of Botany and Dr. V. M. Lagade were present.

Due to the government declaring a holyday for students due to the flood, students were absent on that day and could not participate in the program.

The celebration of International Mangrove Day fostered a sense of environmental responsibility among faculty and guests. Attendees gained valuable knowledge about the unique features of mangrove ecosystems. As we move forward, let us continue to protect and preserve these invaluable coastal ecosystems.
